Lunesta is a medicine that helps people who have trouble sleeping. It works by relaxing the muscles in your brain and making it easier for you to fall asleep. Lunesta is only meant to be used as prescribed by a doctor and misusing it can have harmful side effects.

You should always consult with your doctor before beginning or stopping any medication, but it is especially important to do so if you are using Lunesta and become pregnant. Lunesta has been shown to pass into breast milk, but the effects of the medication on a nursing infant are unknown. To be safe, you should either avoid using Lunesta while breastfeeding or speak to your doctor about the risks and benefits of taking the medication while nursing.
